The short answer

On price and total space, it is close to a tie. At every home size the two land within about 5% of each other per litre. The real differences are box size, whether a dolly is included, how rental time is charged, and where each one delivers.

Where Frogbox is the better pick

Heavy items. A 46-litre box full of books is manageable. A 102-litre tote full of books is too heavy to lift safely. If your move is mostly a home library, Frogbox’s mix of box sizes is easier on your back.

Longer moves. Frogbox publishes a flat $1.50 per box for each extra week, which is easy to plan around if your dates are uncertain.

Brantford. Frogbox Kitchener-Waterloo lists it. We don’t deliver there.

Where ToteRental is the better pick

A dolly in the box. Every package comes with one. For totes this size it matters: you roll them, you don’t carry them.

Wellington County and Milton. We deliver to Fergus, Elora, Rockwood and Milton, which Frogbox’s Kitchener-Waterloo page does not list.

Students. The $99 Student / Dorm package is 15 totes for 10 days, timed for move-in weekends at Guelph, Waterloo, Laurier and Conestoga.

When cardboard is still right

If the boxes are going into storage for months, being shipped, or leaving with things you won’t unpack, rented boxes are the wrong tool, because they have to come back. Common questions

Does Frogbox deliver to Guelph?

Yes. Frogbox's Kitchener-Waterloo location lists Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and Brantford as its service area on its own website, checked September 16, 2026.

Is ToteRental cheaper than Frogbox?

It depends on the size, and the two are very close. For a one-bedroom, ToteRental is $149 for 20 totes (2,040 litres) for 7 days, and Frogbox Kitchener-Waterloo is $145 for 20 standard and 5 small boxes (2,110 litres) for the first week. For a two-bedroom it is $199 against $195, and for a three-bedroom $249 against $261. Frogbox is a few dollars less on the two smaller packages, ToteRental is $12 less on a three-bedroom, and per litre the two are within about 5% at every size. Prices exclude tax, and ToteRental also takes a refundable deposit.

How big are ToteRental totes compared with Frogboxes?

ToteRental rents HDX 102-litre totes measuring about 28.6 x 19.6 x 15.3 inches at the top (exterior), 7.2 lb empty, with a snap-on lid. A standard Frogbox is 94 litres (24 x 20 x 12 inches) and a small Frogbox is 46 litres (21 x 15 x 9 inches).

Which is better for packing books?

Frogbox has the edge here because its bundles include 46-litre small boxes, which stay liftable when full of books. A 102-litre tote packed full of books is too heavy to lift safely, so with ToteRental put books in the bottom third, top up with linens or clothes, and roll the tote on the included dolly.

How long can I keep the boxes?

ToteRental packages include 7 days, or 10 days on the $99 Student / Dorm package, with weekly extensions available. Frogbox prices the first week into the bundle and charges $1.50 per box for each additional week.
